Review - Supernatural 9.14 "Captives"

I feel like I need to start this week’s review with a fashion blog, because excuse me GQ Winchesters! I’ve been joking that they’ve been doing some retail therapy to deal with their bro feels, but gosh, they must have some pretty swanky shops nearby the bunker! When the boys FBI’d up they were looking spectaculacular, with Sam and his jumper and coat ensemble and that overcoat of Dean’s with the checked pants and dress boots…and don’t even start me with what they were wearing and weren’t wearing (layers) in the teaser…which brings me to the teaser! I am a segue genius!

This week’s teaser was one of my favourites ever. I just loved the whole set up with the ghostly figure, the flickering lights, whizzing down the hall and through the grate in Dean’s room, Dean eyes closed with headphones on and music too loud to hear what was going on. It was like a mini horror movie! It was awesome. Then of course we had a frantic Sam, rushing from his room, yelling his brother’s name, twice, grabbing a sword as he goes searching for Dean and then BAM as Dean rock salts the ghost and deadpans “Yep, bunker’s haunted”. LOVE, the whole thing, LOVE.

Especially Sam running out of his room looking for Dean… Kind of reminded me of the sweet potato scene, right? I’ll get back to that…

This week’s episode, “Captives” was split down the middle with two concurrent stories. The Winchesters and the search for Mrs Tran and Castiel and his, what increasingly appears to be, redemption arc.

I don’t mind when the show splits the storylines like this, but I must admit again, not the first time I’ve said this, but I’m struggling to care about the angel wars.

It’s not Cas, I’ve preferred Cas this season than for several seasons and I liked the mixture of tough, kickass angel warrior Cas with the Cas that’s learnt humanity's lessons, the good and the bad ones and has taken them onboard. Castiel’s growth has been a joy to watch. I’m also enjoying the parallels between Castiel and Sam in relation to the decisions that both have made in the past and their feelings of needing to put right what went wrong.

But the angel war. Blah. Sorry. Cas good, angel war blah. I think it’s because we keep seeing these angels that we don’t get a chance to get a handle on. And this war is so obtuse. It reminds me of the previous angel war and the angel weapons of mass destruction thing, it all happens off screen and we hear about it later in bits via characters we don’t know or don’t know enough to care about. Plus angels have been almost unanimously represented as dicks, so it’s hard for me to connect with it or them.

I’m actually a fan of the angels and have been since they were introduced. There have been some epic ones…but Metatron and possibly Gadreel, though we don’t really know him yet, are the only angels other than Cas that we really have any kind of sense of.

Adam Harrington played Bartholomew suitably creepy, but apart from the back story he gave us that filled out a little of Cas’ history, Bart just felt like a meaningless, transient character, so I couldn’t even really cheer when Cas stabbed him with the angel blade. I was more like, okay good…moving on.

So I’m finding it very hard to engage with this whole angel war business. I feel like for it to be interesting, it absolutely has to be grounded in Metatron, who I do care about…CARE ABOUT SEEING DEAD…and Gadreel along with Cas, for it to have any kind of resonance.

But Cas’ story and where that’s going seems interesting and Misha is, of course, knocking it out of the park.

So for me, the other part of “Captives” was what grabbed me…which isn’t really surprising seeing as it had the Winchesters in it!

I was unfortunately spoiled for the epic Kevin reveal. Boooo CHCH promo producers and heads of creative that let that travesty of a promo through! BOOOOO!

I love Kevin. Love him. It wasn’t always that way. I remember early on I found him a bit annoying but he grew as a character and grew on me and even dead he was awesome and I love him and I know I’m going to continue to miss him and miss his sassy backchat, because someone’s got to backchat the Winchesters and that was Kevin Tran’s special skill (along with reading God rocks)!

The interesting thing is, if Kevin hadn’t died, what would have happened to Mrs Tran? Everything has consequences good and bad. You’d be hard pressed to think up a good thing to come out of Kevin’s death, but here it was, for Kevin and Mrs Tran at least and I suspect the brothers. Saving Mrs Tran must have been at least a small salve on the Kevin Tran wound.

There was so much wonderful going on around the Kevin Tran haunting. I’ve already mentioned the epic teaser, which was epic, but how about the dinging coffee maker that Dean actually took to the forest with them! Oh my gosh, that was gold. I laughed at the boys sitting staring at the coffee maker hoping Kevin would contact them through it…until I wasn’t laughing, because Dean trying to say his piece to Kevin was heart breaking. I’m pretty sure he’s said that over and over in his head. I’m also pretty sure it wasn’t a pity party, KT but hey, you were stuck in the veil, you’re allowed to be snarky.

Here’s another thing I was thinking…with the information that Metatron has locked Heaven to the souls, it made me wonder what would have happened if the brothers had closed the gates of Hell? I mean, Metatron already had Heaven in his nasty grasp by then, so imagine that, all the good and bad souls trapped in the veil. Once again, there are consequences to every action. Not closing Hell’s gates may have been a good thing and not just because it meant Sam didn’t die.

I’m glad we got to find Mrs Tran. I’ll be honest here, she’s never been a favourite character of mine (though I met Lauren Tom in Sydney last year and she was a sweetheart, so I softened on Mrs T a bit!), but I was happy to see her storyline rounded out. I never like it when we’re just not sure if someone is dead or alive.

I cried when Sam silently told Mrs Tran about Kevin. I found their interaction so moving; it instantly tore at my heart. Trapped for a year, only thinking about how to get back to her son, only to find out that he’d died, just added so much sad to the whole thing. I'm so glad Sam decided not to continue the lie and be truthful about Kevin. I did wonder though, if Crowley had Mrs Tran, why didn’t he use her as a bargaining chip to escape the Winchester’s grip. I’m assuming when Del the funky homosapien demon stopped seeing Crowley that was when the Winchesters had him under warded lock and key, so why not use Mrs Tran to negotiate your release? Especially as we know he had lingering humanity. Anyhooo food for thought!

And this week Dean got hit on the head and trussed up like a GQ turkey and Sam had to come and kick some butt to save his bro…I’ll get back to that.

The reunion between Kevin and Mrs Tran was powerful in its subtlety. Such a sad and touching moment. Lauren Tom totally nailed that scene. Totally.

I also dug the interaction between Dean and Mrs Tran…apart from the fact that Dean looked MASSIVE. Mrs Tran taking the ghost of her son home because she’s a parent and it’s her job to protect and take care of her son no matter what the consequences might be was pretty much a metaphor for what Dean does in relation to Sam. Because Dean does see himself as his brother’s protector...which has become a problem for Sam.

Which I guess brings me to Sam and Dean. See segue genius!

Kevin was pretty much the fandom right?

“Can you two get over it? Dudes, just because you couldn’t see me doesn’t mean I couldn’t see you. The drama, the fighting? It’s stupid. My mom’s taking home a ghost. You two, you’re both still here.”

Well… Here’s the thing, Kevin was mostly right. The drama, the fighting, it is stupid. They are both alive and that is a good thing. Just ask Kevin. But, “...get over it”? No. That’s not what they need to do. They need to work through it, because getting over it…or shoving it down, or putting a couple of W’s on the board and get past all of this, that’s what’s got them here, because they never, ever work stuff through and deal with their issues.

And that’s what I want them to do. Not just hug it out and move on. I want them to work through what’s hurting, together and get to a better place because of it and be happy and maybe laugh again. Being brothers is more than just being ‘co-dependent’.

It’s obvious Sam still loves Dean and cares what happens to him and that it's not just a business relationship now. (I told you I’d get to it.) You can’t tell me that’s not panic/worry all over Sam’s face and in his voice and body as he runs to his brother’s aid in both “The Purge” and “Captives”. His mouth might be saying one thing, but his reactions are saying something else altogether. And like I keep saying, he’s there. He’s still there and that in itself speaks volumes – let alone the hesitation at his bedroom door.

How I loved that little hesitation. I held my breath as he hesitated and then let it out in a great big wobbly sigh…

This situation has been a long time brewing and it’s not going to get sorted in a few episodes – and including this one we have had 3 where they have been in conflict and together. (I’m not talking “Road Trip” because this conflict kicked off at the end of that episode, or “First Born” because they were separated.) The repairing of their relationship is not going to have value or honesty if it’s a quick fix. “Get over it” is not going to work.

When Sam walked away, part of me rolled my eyes internally and the other part of me got it. He’s hurt and angry and he’s not about to simply “get over it”. I’m kind of glad Sam is standing firm, as heartbreaking as it is to watch for both of them, because nothing is going to get fixed between them if they just get over it.

The tragedy is, I absolutely think they both want to fix what’s broken between them but neither of them know how or what to do next. Any step forward towards each other is going to take both of them putting away their stubbornness and swallowing a fair bit of pride and neither of those things are strong Winchester traits.

They also need to use their words. We could be waiting a while…

I would have liked to have seen what Sam was doing in his room. Reading a book but not seeing any words? Just as Dean was listening to music but not hearing any notes. Because you know the only thing swirling around those angry heads of theirs in that moment was each other.

I won’t lie, I’m worried, not for the brother’s relationship because as you all know, I believe in these guys whole heatedly and believe that they love each other profoundly and that will be enough to get them there, I’m worried that this emotional isolation of Dean (and possibly the Mark of Cain) is going somewhere gnarly and without Sam to guide him back from the brink, the only way is down and dark. Then again, maybe that’s the point…maybe that’s what’s going to bring them back together emotionally, maybe that will make Sam reach out for his brother with the love we know he feels. Because it looks like it’s going to take something big to get these idjits back on the same page.

And just like everyone else, that's what I want, desperately, but call me weird if you like, I'm enjoying the journey we're taking to get there...and yes by enjoying I mean openly weeping but hey, I'm a Supernatural fan, I'm used to buckets of tears!

Supernatural is all about the greys in life. What looks like the right thing to do could turn out very good, or it could turn out very bad. The brothers are never portrayed as completely right or completely wrong…either of them. The uncertainty of the world they have to deal with and the choices they have to make adds to the compelling nature of their story. Both of them have great big lessons still to learn and accept about themselves and about their brother.

We all react so strongly to what’s happening between the Winchester brothers, because we feel so passionately about them and whether we like where it’s going or not, it keeps us talking and thinking and crying and yelling at our TV and unfortunately, sometimes each other.

That’s the nature of loving something with all your heart…the more you love, the more you feel. Can anyone say Sam and Dean…

Spoilers Sweeties! Official description Supernatural 9.16 "Blade Runners"

So good news! Seems that the originally scheduled hiatus is not happening, or at least not happening yet.

I believe the CW are re-running "The Purge" on March 11 and then there is a new episode on March 18. What happens after than, I'm not entirely sure! At some point there will be another short break - 2 weeks by my math - to get to May 20, which is when the season 9 finale is scheduled.

So yay! We aren't having the season all disjointed!

Anyway, here's the synopsis for 9.16 "Blade Runners" which is directed by director of photography extraordinaire, Serge Ladouceur.

SUPERNATURAL
“Blade Runners”  - March 18

CROWLEY SINKS DEEPER INTO HIS ADDICTION; NICOLE “SNOOKI” POLIZZI APPEARS IN A CAMEO ROLE — Dean (Jensen Ackles) is frustrated when he can’t reach Crowley (Mark Sheppard), who has promised to find The First Blade. When Crowley finally calls Sam (Jared Padalecki) and Dean, he tells them he fell off the wagon and has been injecting human blood and needs their help. To make matters worse, he had a demon (guest star Rebecca Marshall) helping him find blood, but she sold him out and told Abaddon that he and the Winchesters were searching for The First Blade. The brothers need to find the blade before Abaddon does, so they enlist the help of a former member of the Men of Letters (guest star Kavan Smith). Meanwhile, Nicole “Snooki” Polizzi appears in a cameo role. Serge Ladouceur directed the episode written by Brad Buckner & Eugenie Ross-Leming (#915).

Sounds like a good one! I'll still be in Vegas after Vegas con, so will be watching it Stateside!

Supernatural Ratings News - "Captives" up from last episode!

So the fabulouso ratings continue for season 9 with "Captives" up a 10th over the last new episode, being "The Purge" (which seems so long ago I had to have a think about what was the last new ep!)

Via TVBythenumbers

On The CW, The Originals returned to a 0.8, down a tenth from the 0.9 its last new episode earned. Supernatural earned a 1.1, up a tenth from its last original's 1.0 adults 18-49 rating.

Note: The CW was preempted in Chicago for Hawks-Bulls Basketball, so expect more adjustments than usual in the finals.

So we were preempted for a big basketball game in Chicago but were still up! Awesome work Supernatual. Awesome work fandom!

Promo for Supernatural 9.15 "#THINMAN"

Here's the promo for next week's episode!

This is the episode with the Ghostfacers!

I'm looking forward to this (like I don't always look forward to Supernatural!). I love the "Ghostfacers" episode from season 3 - though I think a big part of why I love it is because Dean swears all the way through it and I want to see that episode uncensored so bad though maybe that might not be healthy because Dean swearing a blue streak is going to be super hot and I'm not sure I could cope with that level of hot but hey I'm willing to try *takes deep breath*.

Sorry...where was I? Oh yes, Dean swearing would be hot. What? No. Here's the promo for next week's episode #THINMAN.

Hey, how are we going to hashtag that one on twitter? ##THINMAN? IDK...

(p.s. I say "WINCHESTERS, YAY" all the time! Just sayin' there Harry)

Spoilers Sweeties! Promotional photos - Supernatural 9.15 "#Thinman"

Yes! More stuff! Now we have promo pics from 9.15 #Thinman. This is the episode that heralds the return of the Ghostfacers!

What do they tell us? Well not much!

I want to be Ed here so bad. I want to eavesdrop on the brothers!
Are they having a deep and meaningful about the case or about each other? Dum-dum-daaaaaah!

Not happy? Listening?

AJ has totally changed his entire being! When he decided to get rid of the lab geek look he wasn't kidding! No wonder he was cast in Justified. Anyhoo, does it look like Ed and Harry might be fighting? They don't look happy.

Not happy!

Speaking of which...

Working with his back to his brother?

Gazing sadly at his brother's back?

(I'm so in love with the white shirts...)

But I'm even more in love with the red shirt! (And my gosh Dean's pretty).

I have to say all of these photos have got me totally intrigued. Also, LEGS.
Legs and red shirt...what are they trying to do to me!

Okay, so they are very enjoyable photos which basically tell us nothing. But I like seeing the boys working together, because if they're working together, they're not walking away and that's good.

I'm just happy for more pics!

The Light On Spoilers, Heavy on Squee Preview of Supernatural 9.14 "Captives"

Thank goodness! Seriously, way to leave us hanging and crying and hurting and crying and hanging, show! Stupid hellatus'. And listen, don't get too comfortable because even though the show is back, it's only back for 2 weeks and then we have a whole damn month hellatus! Crap! I mean, CRAP!

But... we do have two new episodes to look forward and the first one is 9.14 "Captives". Weee!

So let's look at the synopsis:

Sam and Dean go shopping for new coats.

Okay...they don't really... but I do like these coats! Dean looks particularly like a male modeling son of a bitch here! I just love his collar. Dean, always with the collar.

Here's the real synopsis:

THE BUNKER IS HAUNTED — Sam (Jared Padalecki) and Dean (Jensen Ackles) are stunned to discover the Men of Letters’ bunker is haunted. Their investigation leads them to a storage facility where the demons have been keeping a prize possession. Meanwhile, Castiel (Misha Collins) is captured by Bartholomew (guest star Adam Harrington). Jerry Wanek directed the episode written by Robert Berens.

The last episode written by Robert Berens was "Heaven Can't Wait". Jerry Wanek is of course, the fabulous Production Designer for Supernatural. This is Jerry's second shot at directing an episode, having directed season 7's "Slice Girls" (Mmmmm Dean sex....)

The bunker is haunted? Seriously, the guys need to get their warding updated or something because there's angels and demons coming and going and evil witches and now ghosts! Geesh.

Ok...promo!

Snooki's a crossroads demon? Nice! After the ouchiness of the end of the last episode, this actually looks like fun. It's going to be so very interesting to watch the brothers interacting after the emotional upheavel at the end of "The Purge".

Here's an extended promo - but it has more footage than from just this episode, because we know the Ghostfacers are in the next episode.

Crowley cracks me up. I do so love him. I wonder what's going to happen between Cas and Bart? Do you think they'll join forces? Maybe Bart's no the bad guy afterall.

For some reason, the kitchen scene fills me with glee! I can't wait to see how the boys react to a haunting in their very own home!

How about the sneak peak clip...

It's such a good one liner... nice one Sam. They've always been excellent at snarky comebacks. Some things never change. If they're out camping... This episode looks so interesting!

It seems like we're going to get 2 separate stories. The brothers and their adventure and Cas and Bartholomew and his angels. I'm guessing that's the way it's going to roll until everything starts to intersect.

But really, no offense rest of the characters, but right now I'm interested in the brother's relationship and where it goes next. How they function together, do they continue to talk? I can't wait to find all of this out.

So who do you think is haunting the bunker? Anyone we know or just a random spirit?

Who do you think the demon's have locked up as a prize possession?

Where do you think Sam and Dean got their spiffy new coats and do you think they went shopping together or just had a weird in sync moment and both went out for weapons or something and came back with new clothes... ;)  I want to see them shopping... I really do.

Let me know you thoughts. I can't wait. I'm so excited for the show to be back. To hell with pain, I just want to see the brothers and I just want to see what happens next!

-sweetondean

***I would usually include the CHCH promo, but it's so damn spoilery I can't believe it and I won't include it for that reason. If you still want to see it Clickety Click! But you've been warned!

Please DON'T discuss the spoiler in the comments. It's way too spoilery for a Light On Spoilers preview!

Thanks a bunch and enjoy the ep... I CAN'T FREAKIN' WAIT!

"Supernatural" Review - Will Sam and Dean Finally Purge Their Inner Demons?

A lot of people have been asking me what my take was on the conversation at the end of “The Purge”. There’s a reason I didn’t write up this episode and it wasn’t because I didn’t like it, or was angry or any of those things. It was because a while ago I stepped away from a place where the commentary on the show was getting me down and starting to affect my enjoyment of it. For a while, I considered giving up writing about the show altogether, because Supernatural is too important to me and I love it too much to have that experienced marred by my inability to separate myself from other’s opinions. That inability to not be affected by other peoples’ anger or despondency or disillusionment is all on me. It’s no one’s fault but my own. But I know I’m not alone in not being able to do this.

So I decided “The Purge” could wait until things calmed down.

Then my elderly dog – he’s 15 – got diagnosed with diabetes (actually on the day “The Purge” went to air!) and dealing with that and what that means and trying to figure out what’s right and what’s wrong has taken up all of my time and emotional energy.

But Harry is doing well and we’re taking it one day at a time as we see how much further our journey together will go. So I guess it’s finally time for me to weigh in on the whole “The Purge” shebang. To be honest, stepping away and allowing myself time to absorb and react without the first bloom of over emotive emotions was probably the best thing I could have done.

I’m an eternal optimist and that hasn’t changed. So let’s get that out there right now. I believe in this show. I believe in the people producing it. I do not believe for one moment they are wilfully or consciously trying to destroy any characters – because, really? I’m not even going to bother with that. I believe in and always will believe in Sam and Dean.

I’m also a realist. I don’t think two men in their 30’s who have been through the kinds of trauma these men have been through would react the same way to each other as two men in their 20’s who hadn’t been to Hell and back quite literally. They just wouldn’t and I’m glad of that. These characters have grown into profoundly deep and thoughtful human beings and I love every aspect of both of them.

I’m also realistic enough to know and appreciate that families fight, sometimes bitterly and violently but that doesn’t mean they don’t love each other and that doesn’t mean they don’t find a way to forgive and move past the anger and end up having a better more honest relationship because of the honesty that at the time seemed hurtful and harsh. Yes, I am speaking from experience.

So do I believe this is the end of the magnificence that is Sam and Dean. No I do not. Do I believe that they can find a way back to each other that has truth and realism and value? Yes, I do.

Had this situation played out any other way. Had Sam essentially forgiven Dean or buried his anger and hurt. Had they simply got on with the family business without any of this being dealt with I would have felt gypped and I know the fandom would have feel gypped too. Sam deserves to be allowed his anger, even if we don’t like it.

I’m reminded of John Winchester when Dean first stood up to him: “…I'm not too crazy about this new tone of yours, but you’re right.” That’s kind of how I feel about what’s happening now with Sam.

Of course his words hurt. They hurt like crazy. I was as gobsmacked as everyone else. But he was angry and was being honest in saying that for him, how their relationship currently is, it’s not working and then there’s Dean saying, well I’d do it again. Red rag to a bull – which is probably why Dean said it. Hurt and angry words usually get hurt and angry words in return…tragically, that’s just people.

But yeah, initially there was a part of me that was pissed. 1. Because Dean’s face and heart was so broken and 2. Because Sam’s words seemed to lack the understanding needed to allow his brother to hear them. Sam said I just want to be respected and have my choices for my own life respected and I would always respect what you want, even if it’s not what I want. Dean heard Sam doesn’t love me enough. I’m not enough.

But hasn’t that been the conversation these two have been battling internally now for 8.5 seasons? More to the point, aren’t these the issues we’ve been dealing with since season 1?

Sam originally left the family business to pursue a dream because his choice for his own life was not being respected.

The Yellow Eyed Demon nailed Dean when he said, “You know, you fight and you fight for this family, but the truth is they don’t need you. Not like you need them.” Right there, that sums up Dean’s greatest fear… still does.

When I stepped back from the emotional upheaval of what transpired after “Road Trip”, I started to see a picture forming – maybe just in my eyes, but…

How I’m seeing all this is that Sam and Dean’s core insecurity/issues/hopes/dreams/needs of their brother have been front and centre from the beginning of season 8. Playing out through Dean’s feelings around Sam choosing a different path when Dean vanished without a trace and now Sam’s feelings around Dean making a choice for Sam that he knew Sam wouldn’t want.

So what if what we’re seeing here is the show finally bringing out these things that have haunted their relationship with each other and their feelings about themselves and letting them actually talk about and deal with them? I mean that would be something right?

The conversations started in season 8 with Dean’s speech about just being a grunt and death is all that awaits him and with Sam’s speech about how he wants to live and he sees a different life, but so should Dean and he’ll take Dean with him to the light he sees at the end of the tunnel.

It was continued in “Sacrifice” with Sam confessing that he’s always felt like he’s let Dean down and that Dean doesn’t trust him and Dean saying there’s nothing past or present that he would put in front Sam.

That conversation was just the very beginning of what needs to be said between these brothers. It was a wonderful moment, a shining light in the series, but it was just a beginning and it was tragically cut short.

And now we find ourselves here…in season 9 with everything coming to a head. It may feel like a backward step, but maybe it’s the only way to revisit and further the conversation that was started in that church.

How can these two move forward in a place of love and trust if they continue to sweep their feelings of doubt, hurt, anger and bitterness under the rug? They can’t and they haven’t since Kripke broke their trust in season 4.

So, I’m not going to sweat this. I’m going to look at this as maybe, just maybe the beginning of them actually dealing with their problems once and for all.

Because I don’t want Dean to live in a state of fear and desperation that at any minute his brother is going to leave him and he’s going to be alone.

Because I don’t want Sam to not trust his brother’s love because he feels like his brother doesn’t believe in or respect him or his wishes.

I want them to know and feel the love that we know is there, always.

The angry words, yeah they hurt and yeah, maybe I’m not crazy about this new tone, but I understand it and I’m hoping that this is the beginning of a better place for Sam and Dean Winchester.

Because, once again, they’re fighting for each other and fighting to stay together.

Sam could have easily not have got in that car or he could have easily just got in and never been honest with Dean about how he is feeling and what he wants. But he didn’t. This is Sam fighting for his relationship with Dean.

Dean could have stayed in the car and let his brother walk away instead of getting out of the car and laying his need and heart out in the open. He could have walked out of the Men of Letters bunker and never looked back after Sam’s words cut him to the quick, but we know he didn’t. This is Dean fighting for his relationship with Sam.

I want what everyone wants. I want the brothers to be all twisted up in each other’s lives but I also want them to be happy about it. I want them to want to be together because they love each other as profoundly as we love them. I want them to be happy driving down crazy street with their brother by their side. I want them to enjoy being brothers again. Enjoy being together. They’ve been ploughing through so much blood and crap since season 4, they haven’t had time to really look at each other. I’m hoping, right now, this is their time.

And when we get there, the result will have so much more value, because it would have be fought for. The best things come to those who never give up…just like Sam and Dean.

You can call me an optimist you can call me an idiot…I don’t really care either way. I believe in Sam and Dean. I believe in their love and I believe in Supernatural. This show is yet to let me down and I know it won’t this time.

So I’m sticking with the Winchester brothers, because if they can fight to stay together, I can fight for them too.

How do I feel about that last scene in “The Purge”? I feel like it could be the first steps towards purging the brothers’ inner demons and the beginning of better times for the Winchesters – well, in their relationship at least - and I can’t wait to see where we go next.

Supernatural might be painful sometimes, but it’s always compelling and thought provoking.

Spoilers Sweeties! Promotional photos - Supernatural 9.14 "Captives"

Soooo here we go!

Promo pics from the next episode! After that rather dour ending to "The Purge", what have Sam and Dean been up to?

Well...it looks like they went shopping for new coats! Nothing like a bit of retail therapy to mend a broken heart. Huh? HUH?

That coat + that scruff = Amy EXPLODES. Also, Dean and his always turning up the collar. Just. Bless.

Ru-Roh! (Also, phwoar)

Cue superhero music! Super Sam to the rescue! Yay!

Meanwhile, over at the angel wars....

I'm just going to say it...I do love Cas' new trench. The deeper colour...the shorter, less traditional styling...but I seriously miss the tie. He looks like he got dressed in a hurry! You know what would be cool...if the tie was casually hanging out of his pocket.

Look at the lovely lighting in this shot.

And this shot. I've got to say it for the angels, they love a bit of minimalist styling!

I'm sure the actor who plays Bartholomew (Adam Harrington) is a super lovely dude, but his face creeps me out...which I guess is the point.

Hellooooooo Castiel! Pretty boy angel.

Where's that angel blade going. Also, Cas needed a rumple free coat...he's still got a touch of the Columbos about him!

Yes I know you've seen this one but I felt it was worth repeating...for scruff and coat reasons.

Okay...I'll stop now.

Okay. Now.
